Mark the date: October 26 - 29, 2011. The Southwest Fox 2011 will take place at the Legado Hotel, Gilbert, Arizona, USA and you should not miss this great event! All details including very interesting session descriptions and the speakers' biographies are available on-line at www.swfox.net. Registration is already open.
Again the German FoxPro User Group, Visual Extend, and FoxRockX are sponsoring a free Silverswitch (VFP to Silverlight) workshop on Saturday and Sunday, starting right after the Southwest Fox. After lunch on October 29th we meet again in the regular session room and we are done at lunch time on October 30th. So you can catch your flight back home with just a small delay.
We will present a major update of Silverswitch, the ultimate Silverlight converter for Visual FoxPro applications enabling you to create web and desktop applications in one step. Silverswitch is not limited any more to applications based on our well-known framework Visual Extend (VFX). Silverswitch will allow you within certain limitations to feed it with regular Visual FoxPro applications.
We will show you how to convert the forms and reports of an existing VFP application and an existing VFX application to Silverlight, and how to move your FoxPro code to the back-end or the front-end of the application. Client/Server is enabled but you can continue to use DBFs with no problem or allow the user to switch the back-end database if needed.
The post-conference workshop is free of charge. You can evaluate the offerings at no risk. But please register with the SWFox team so that we can reserve a seat for you. You will get deep insight into the usage of Visual FoxPro in combination with Silverlight.
More details about the framework Visual Extend can be found at www.visualextend.com. The details about Silverswitch are available at www.silverswitch.de, the English version is still under preparation. Documents are in our document portal at http://portal.dfpug.de/dfpug/Dokumente/Silverswitch. Questions are answered in our free forum at http://forum.dfpug.de, available as a newsgroup as well.
